CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) – State College Regional Airport is adding some flights to popular places in the upcoming months.

By the end of Sept. 2024, there will be a fourth flight to Philadelphia, a third to Washington and a fourth to Chicago. Added up with the current number, there will be roughly 11 flights per day.

The airport also says that starting Sept. 21, 2024, United Large Aircrafts will be upgraded to hold up to 76 seats, which is up from 50. They say the extra flights come courtesy of the high influx of students and families attending football games in the area, and all of it hinges on having a good relationship with airlines.

Airport Manager Jason McMurtrie said that if you can show airlines you will get a “good return” on investment, “they’re willing to listen to you.”

As for the future, the airport says they will continue to look for ways to add more flights.
