    Clearfield County woman pleads guilty to trafficking meth

    CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A Houtzdale woman plead guilty in federal court to trafficking methamphetamine, according to United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan.

    Joanna Shylock, 36, was arrested for her role in an 18-month-long investigation into methamphetamine trafficking. As part of a federal wiretap, multiple kilos of meth were trafficked from Atlanta up into Central Pennsylvania, according to the US Attorney .

    On Friday, Aug. 23 Shylock pleaded guilty to violating federal narcotic laws. According to a release from the Department of Justice, in March and April of 2020, Shylock conspired to distribute a substance that contained methamphetamine.

    Senior United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson scheduled Shylock’s sentencing for Jan. 22, 2025. The law provides for a maximum total sentence of up to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $1 million, or both.

    The Drug Enforcement Administration and Pennsylvania State Police conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Shylock. Additional agencies participating in this investigation include:

    • United States Postal Inspection Service
    • Homeland Security Investigations
    • Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General
    • Clearfield County District Attorney’s Office
    • Erie County District Attorney’s Office
    • Millcreek Police Department
    • Erie Bureau of Police
    • Other local law enforcement agencies.

    Assistant United States Attorney Maureen Sheehan-Balchon is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
