CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Excavation crews began work Thursday repairing a fraction of the significant damage Hurricane Debby did to the Ghost Town Trail after the early August storm.

Cliff Kitner, Cambria County Conservation & Recreation Authority executive director, told the Tribune-Democrat that the destruction is estimated to be about 7,500 feet of trail, totaling $386,300.

He added that the situation has left him and his staff in a bind as they start necessary fixes now to make the trail passable again and attempt to gather funds for total remediation.

Thursday’s work concentrated on two sinkholes caused by flooding between Twin Rocks and Nanty Glo and the estimation of another area between Twin Rocks and Vintondale.

“We’re trying to get stuff done that’s a must,” Kitner said.
