Somerset PD warns businesses of counterfeit bills

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Somerset Borough Police Department is warning local businesses to be wary of counterfeit cash.

According t o a Facebook post , the department responded to an incident at Eat N Park after two men allegedly tried to use counterfeit cash. On Sunday, Aug. 25 workers said that two males tried to use a fake $100 bill and fled when workers realized it was fake.

This is the second instance in recent days where people tried to use fake money to pay for items. Last week a different man tried to use fake $20 bills to purchase a Cash App debit card at Family Dollar.

Police posted photos of the two men from Sunday’s attempt along with a picture of the car they were driving. You’re asked to contact police at 814-445-4596 if you have any information.

We ask that our local businesses continue to be mindful that attempt(s) to pay for goods and services with counterfeit money are occurring regularly in this region.
