CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) – PennDOT is moving forward with its State College Area Connector project , but some residents aren’t happy.

After the August 2024 public meeting , the community got to see the updated plans to connect Rt. 322 to Rt. 45: There are three routes to choose from, and comments that PennDOT receives will help determine which one will be the final alignment.

However, no matter which route they go with out of north, central or south, someone will be losing land.

“I don’t care which way it goes,” Tusseyville Resident Kelli Simco said. ” You’re stealing somebody’s land.”

Until the final alignment is decided, residents will not know if their property will be affected or not. PennDOT says that they will work to have the final route “soon,” but that isn’t good enough for some residents.

“I think there needs to be a pause on this and really think how can we do this to benefit more people instead of hurting the people that live in the area.” Owner of Encore Farms Shira Houser said.
