HUNTINGDON, Pa. (WTAJ) — Huntingdon residents are warned to stay indoors Thursday night as the area will be sprayed for mosquitoes.

The spray will happen Thursday, Aug. 29, starting around 7:45 p.m. and will last until 10 p.m., officials project.

Areas being sprayed will include (not limited to): Penn Street, Moore Street, 5th Street, Warm Spring Avenue, Cold Spring Road, Stone Ridge Road, Wooded Way, Susquehanna Avenue, Mt. Vernon Avenue and Ice Plant Road.

Officials said that several West Nile virus-positive mosquitoes were recently found in these areas. They noted that other roads in the above-mentioned areas may also be sprayed.

It’s important to note that if weather conditions prevent the spray, it will be rescheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Officials remind residents to be vigilant of standing water. Something as small as a bottle cap with water can breed mosquitoes.
