ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — From the White Lady of Wopsy to century-old buildings downtown, people wonder — Is Altoona haunted?

Myths, stories, and tall tales about Altoona have been told for over a century. History professor Jared Frederick wants to explore Altoona’s “haunted” history with you via lantern light this October.

The event will take place over two days, Oct. 4 and Oct. 5 at 6:30 and 9 p.m. respectively. For more info, you can check out the Facebook event page by clicking here .

    According to his Facebook page:

“Historian and artist Jared Frederick has worked as a small business publisher, artist, historian, national park ranger, and college history instructor since he founded History Matters Publications during high school. Since then, he has earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in History from Penn State Altoona and West Virginia University, respectively. He enjoys creating historic artwork and also shares his stories and articles on his personal blog. Together, we can all make History Matter.”

The haunted walk will go around downtown Altoona starting at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 4, and then at 9 p.m. Oct. 5. It will cover three-quarters of a mile — on foot — and stop at the Altoona post office, Mishler Theatre and various other downtown locations, ending at Levity Brewing on 11th Avenue.
