CLEARFIELD COUNTY (WTAJ) – For 18 years, PA Waste LLC. and Clearfield County have been fighting over a proposed landfill and it’s once again been put on hold.

The landfill, which would be in Boggs Township, would produce 5,000 tons of waste a day, and cover 845 acres.

The application has been rejected multiple times, but this time it was rejected due to a property dispute. When the dispute is settled they can re-apply but the county recommends otherwise

“When this project originally came out was well before I was commissioner, there was a deficit in facilities and the capacity was needed,” Commissioner Tim Winters said. “But with some changes in the waste industry and some great increases in trucking cost, this, this may not be a viable facility,”

The commissioners explained that if the facility was built, it would take away a lot of land that could be used for something else.
