Geisinger to host drive-thru flu shot events across Central Pa.

(WTAJ) — With the weather changing comes flu season, and Geisinger is looking to make it easy to get vaccinated.

Saturday, Sept. 14, Geisinger is hosting a “Super Saturday” drive-through flu shot event. The shots will be available to anyone three-years-old and older at multiple participating Geisinger locations. Patients six-months and older can receive a flu shot at Geisinger pediatrics.

All flu vaccine events will be held from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., with two more scheduled for Oct. 12 and Oct. 26.

“By getting immunized, you are protecting yourself against serious illness while also reducing
your risk of getting hospitalized and keeping yourself from spreading the flu to those at high risk
of severe illness, including children, the elderly and those immunocompromised,” Stanley
Martin, M.D., Geisinger director of infectious diseases, said.

The first vaccine locations are:

• Geisinger Healthplex State College (132 Abigail Lane)
• Geisinger Philipsburg (210 Medical Center Drive)
• Geisinger Lewistown (21 Geisinger Lane)
• Geisinger Mifflintown (27 CJEMS Lane)

Pediatric centers that can give flu shots are:

• Geisinger Pediatrics Healthplex State College (132 Abigail Lane)
• Geisinger Pediatrics Lewistown (21 Geisinger Lane)
• Geisinger Pediatrics Philipsburg (210 Medical Drive)

Preregistration is not necessary. Just drive up, roll down your window, fill out a brief form and
get your shot. The drive-through event staff may invite you and your children inside if they
believe you’ll be safer and more comfortable getting your shots there.
