    Penn State completes West Campus expansion with new building

    CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Penn State College of Engineering celebrated its newly constructed Engineering Collaborative Research and Education Building (ECoRE) with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

    The new building is the culmination of its West Campus expansion. On Friday, Sept. 6 those who helped design and construct the building along with Penn State leaders and College of Engineering friends and alumni attended the ceremony.

    The Penn State College of Engineering is the largest academic college at Penn State and now the 290,000 square foot building is the largest academic building on any Penn State campus.

    “The entire university. Engineering is such a big collaborator in doing work across disciplines, so it gives us the modern spaces where we have people from different departments working together on key issues,” Tonya Peeples, Harold and Inge Marcus Dean for the College of Engineering, said.

    The building includes the Center for Engineering Outreach and Inclusion and the Engineering Advising Center, as well as academic unit offices, research space, and teaching labs for aerospace engineering, architectural engineering, acoustics, and civil and environmental engineering.

    New buildings, renovated stadium, $1.5 million mixed salary for their President, $7 million salary for the football coach… tell me again why so many received a “buyout” for fear of layoffs this year. Im embarrassed to be an alumna.
