BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — One person was pronounced dead after a crash on Interstate 99 Friday night.

The single-vehicle crash happened just before midnight at mile marker 15.4 (Greenfield Township). According to state police, 46-year-old Wayne Newkirk, of Hollidaysburg, was pronounced dead at the scene when he crashed on I-99.

Troopers said Newkirk was driving south when he tried to pass another vehicle and lost control.

Driving a Honda Accord, Newkirk skidded off the highway and hit an embankment. The Accord then rolled over multiple times. Troopers said that Newkirk was thrown from the vehicle and ultimately pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
