    Punxsutawney Hospital to host ‘Women’s Health Fair’

    JEFFERSON COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Punxsutawney Area Hospital announced its “Women’s Health Fair,” and the community is invited to attend.

    The fair, which will be held on Oct. 23, from 5-7 p.m., at the hospital (81 Hillcrest Drive), will be an informative evening filled with mini talks, tables of information, screening opportunities and giveaways. The evening is free to attend.

    The following screenings will be offered, for free, during the fair:

    • Blood pressure readings
    • Bone density checks
    • 50 lipid panel and A1C blood draws (first come, first serve)
    • 50 STI tests (first come, fist serve)
    • 10 mammography screenings (for those eligible and pre-registered)
    • 10 pap tests (for those eligible and pre-registered)

    Informational topics include heart and reproductive health, healthy eating, preventative screenings, breastfeeding and lactation counseling and SAFE-T programs. Free menstruation products will also be available.

    For the mammography and pap screens, participants must be 40 years of age or at high risk, uninsured or underinsured, last mammogram was completed a year or more previously or you’ve never had a mammogram and you do not have one currently scheduled with another provider.
