STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WTAJ) – About a year ago, Penn State Grad Student Matthew Hollingham’s fiance Lovisa died after being hit by a car. Now he’s honoring her legacy by hiking Mt. Nittany nearly 50 times.

The hike will be continuous, totaling over 30 hours. He will walk up and down the mountain until he equals the height of Mt. Everest.

“This is really me trying to do something positive in her name,” Hollingham said.

Hollingham says he’s been training his body for long distances, so he’s confident he can make the climb despite its difficulty. While he’s doing it for Lovisa, he’s also doing it for Save the Children , an organization dedicated to investing in the future of children.

“It’s really because Lovisa really wanted to be a mom,” Hollingham said. “It’s for the children she never had in a way.”

For anyone who wants to join him, he plans to kick off at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 and will hike until late Sunday.
