HARRISBURG, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) will host more than 35 programs across 25 state parks during Girl Scouts Love State Parks weekend from Sept. 13-15, officials announced.

The nationwide initiative, which began in 2019, aims to connect Girl Scouts with unique outdoor experiences at their local state parks.

This year’s programs will include outdoor recreation such as archery, stand-up paddleboarding, and geocaching, as well as nature-focused activities like wildflower walks, stream studies, and animal investigations. Additional offerings include mill and museum tours, along with volunteer opportunities for Girl Scout troops.

“We are excited to partner with Girl Scouts USA to engage scouts across Pennsylvania and help connect them to our wonderful state parks,” said DCNR State Parks Director John Hallas. “These programs help young people develop leadership skills, create their own outdoor adventures, and build a lifelong appreciation for nature.”

The event is part of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, which teaches scouts to discover their strengths, build social bonds, and become stewards of the environment.
