CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — State Representative Frank Burns announced that the Summerhill Borough will receive a state grant.

The grant, worth $116,872, will be used for new lighting at the baseball park as well as upgrades for a gazebo, benches, sidewalks and handicapped accessibility at Freedom Park. The leftover money will be used to purchase ballistic vests for members of the Forest Hills Area Ambulance/EMS, according to Burns.

Eric Miller, Summerhill Borough Mayor and Forest Hills ambulance service manager, said that Burns was pivotal in obtaining the grant money.

“It’s been a two-year process with Frank to get all of it done. He’s been working for two years to find us money for the ballistic vests,” Miller said. “The other stuff was more recent, but when we met with him about our concerns, Frank was right on it trying to get us something.”
