JOHNSTOWN Pa. (WTAJ) — The annual Polacek Family Johnstown Slavic Festival will take place on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20-21, at the Heritage Discovery Center in Johnstown.

This free event celebrates Slavic heritage with traditional music, dance, food, and cultural presentations.

The two-day festival will feature performances by folk musicians and dancers, including international performers Vagonar from Slovakia, a 33-member musical and dance group. Festival-goers will also enjoy a variety of Slavic foods from vendors like Fredo’s Deli, Babcia’s Lunchbox, and St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church.

Slavic beers such as Sarajevsko Dark and Zywiec Porter, along with spirits like Slivovitz, will be available for purchase. Attendees can also shop for traditional crafts and learn more about Slavic history and genealogy through educational presentations.

‘This year’s festival has more music, more food vendors, and more entertainment than ever before,” MaryAnn Ritko said, an organizing committee member. “We are excited to continue the tradition of presenting the most authentic Slavic festival in the United States.”
