    PSP: One juvenile charged after bomb threat at Indiana County school

    INDIANA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — One juvenile was charged after a bomb threat at Penns Manor Area Junior/Senior High School Monday.

    The student, a 14-year-old male, was charged with a felony count of threat to use weapons of mass destruction and a felony count of terroristic threats, according to Pennsylvania State Police. He is also facing a misdemeanor charge of possession of a weapon on school property, as he was found to allegedly have a pocketknife when he was taken into custody.

    Originally, troopers were called to the school after a note was found in a bathroom indicating that there was a bomb in the building and that it was scheduled to detonate at 1:30 p.m. School members reviewed security camera footage and were able to identify the 14-year-old as the suspect, PSP said.

    The student was taken into custody without incident and was transported to Troop A, Indiana. Following interviews and further investigation, he was released to his guardian.

    Penns Manor Area Junior/Senior High School and Elementary School were evacuated and students and teachers were dismissed for the day on Sept. 9. Following a sweep conducted by the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Emergency and Special Operations Explosives Detection K9 Unit, no explosive devices were found.

    Troopers thanked the Penns Manor Area School District and students for their assistance and cooperation during this investigation.
