CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A Penn State University football player is facing DUI charges, according to the State College Police Department.

Amin Vanover, 23, who is currently the Nittany Lions defensive end , is facing misdemeanor charges of DUI of a controlled substance and a summary charge of driving an unregistered vehicle.

According to the affidavit, on Aug. 8 officers noticed a black Dodge Charger traveling with an expired tag and pulled the vehicle over. Vanover gave his license to the police, but officers noted that they could allegedly smell marijuana on him. They also noted he allegedly had bloodshot eyes.

Vanover was arrested for suspicion of driving while under the influence of marijuana and taken for a blood draw. Blood analysis showed that he was positive for Delta-9, Delta-9 Carboxy THC and Delta THC.

We are aware of the charges against Amin Vanover. These alleged actions do not reflect the values and standards of our program and will be addressed. We will not comment any further as this is an ongoing legal matter.
