HARRISBURG, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Pennsylvania House of Representatives is looking to lower the cost of bottled water at concert venues with a new bill.

The legislation , introduced by Rep. Ben Waxman (D-Philadelphia County) and Rep. La’Tasha Mayes (D-Allegheny County), argued that it is important that people stay hydrated during concerts and that the price of bottled water at venues makes it difficult to do so.

The bill would set maximum prices of water at:

    • $2 bottled water of 16 ounces or less
    • $2.50 for bottled water of 16.01 to 19.99 ounces
    • $3.00 for bottled water of 20 to 23.99 ounces
    • $4.00 for bottled water of 24 ounces or more

For reference, currently, a liter of water (33.8 ounces) at Stage AE, in Pittsburgh, costs $6 . Under the new legislation, it would drop to $4. At the Wells Fargo Center, in Philadelphia, bottled water is reported to cost as much as $26 .

Every five years, the prices would be reevaluated to keep up with the price of inflation. With this legislation, Waxman said, everyone would be able to stay hydrated and enjoy their favorite concert, sporting event or other activity at a reasonable price.
