ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — A teenager has been arrested after breaking into a warehouse in Altoona and local police are being thanked.

At around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday surveillance footage captured a juvenile climbing the fence of the Park Home and Park Security System warehouse.

“When a person comes into view of the camera, the eye picks up that there is a person here,” Matt Muccitelli, the president of Park Security Systems said. “So, it alerts our operators and they’re able to get on the cameras and see what’s going on and react accordingly.”

Three police officers responded to the call after the cameras outside of the building alerted them of an intruder. Five minutes later, Altoona Police were on the scene, searching for the suspect.

After three minutes, they found the juvenile hiding in the bushes along the back side of the facility. APD apprehended the suspect and proceeded to escort him off the premises in handcuffs.

Workers at the building are appreciative of the fast response from local authorities.

“The police response was amazing, fast and extremely efficient,” Muccitelli added. “I just wanted to give those guys a shoutout. They did a great job.”

With the police response being quick, it gave him a new perspective on what the police do in their day-to-day operations.

“In a world where the police are often attacked for a lot of the things that they do, you know, and they’re like those guys are underpaid and overworked,” Muccitelli said. “And we just wanted to give a shoutout to APD for the response that they have had.”

According to Muccitelli, the building was left without any damage and nothing was stolen.
