    One charged after crashing into stopped school bus in Elk County

    ELK COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A Penfield woman is being charged for failing to stop for a school bus picking up kids and crashing into the back of it.

    Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) reports a 23-year-old woman is being charged with overtaking a school bus Thursday morning, Sept. 12 on Million Dollar Highway in Fox Township.

    Troopers said that the school bus was stopped with its lights flashing and stop sign extended picking up a child when the woman in a Ford Escape crashed into the back of the bus. The Ford suffered disabling damage. Troopers noted there were 13 people on the school bus at the time.

    The driver of the Ford was taken to Penn Highlands Elk for suspected minor injuries. Two students on the bus reported minor injuries but were treated by EMS at the scene.

    The bus driver was taken to Penn Highlands Elk out of caution but was listed as uninjured in the PSP report.
