Evan Baskerville, 37 (Blair County Prison)

Evan Baskerville, 37, of Altoona, was stopped by police while walking in the middle of 6th Street around 2:12 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 1. Police noted they were on a “saturation patrol” after numerous issues in the area recently. According to a criminal complaint, Baskerville refused to stop and started a foot chase across multiple properties.

One of the homes he allegedly ran past, happened to catch a few seconds of the chase on a doorbell camera. The owner told WTAJ that later that day, they found one of the taser prongs stuck in their siding.

Officers said that during the chase, Baskerville ran through multiple properties and jumped a fence twice. In addition to the taser deployment that missed him in the video, they attempted to use the taser another time but Baskerville was able to escape.

Police said Baskerville was finally stopped when an officer from the District Attorney’s Office jumped out of a cruiser and bodychecked him, knocking him to the ground.

According to the criminal complaint, Baskerville continued to resist and tried to run again. He was ultimately arrested when four responding officers were able to each grab a limb. A search of Baskerville turned up 11 grams of cocaine and 30 grams of crack cocaine as well as a baggie of marijuana. Police noted in the charges that he also had $1,407 in cash folded up in $100 increments, which they said suggests recent drug transactions.
