EBENSBURG, Pa. (WTAJ) — Just a day after police in Altoona and Ridgway had to deal with school threats, a swatting call was placed to Ebensburg police for a shooting.

Ebensburg Borough Police said they were dispatched for a reported shooting incident Saturday afternoon. They said the call came in around 2:45 p.m.

While investigating, they said it was determined that the call was a “spoof” and there was no shooting or threat to the public.

On Friday, Ridgway area schools were closed and Altoona area schools were on a two-hour delay due to threats posted on social media the night before. This comes as schools across the country have experienced an uptick in school threats, with many determined to be hoaxes and some even originate from people in other states.
