BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A motorcyclist from Canada was hospitalized after a crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike Sunday morning.

Pennsylvania State Police report that a 57-year-old man from Ontario was rushed to UPMC Altoona after a crash that saw his Kawasaki Versys catch fire.

According to state police, the man was traveling westbound on the PA Turnpike at around 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 15 when a driver in a Mazda changed into his lane of travel. The front tire of the Mazda hit the back tire of the Kawasaki, causing the man to be thrown from the bike.

The man slammed into a concrete barrier as his bike slid further down the road, eventually catching on fire. State police noted that he was wearing his helmet at the time.
