CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Members of the Gallitzin Fire Company did their part Sunday to help prevent fires and avoid other dangers.

They welcomed the community to an open house with a focus on everything from how to get out of a smoke-filled house to a demonstration of the dangers of texting and driving. Both kids and adults were offered tips on how to stay safe.

“I’ve seen a lot of people picking up brochures on how to do CPR and how to check their smoke detectors,” Gallitzin Assistant Fire Chief Gregory Patterson said. “For the kids, there’s a lot of coloring books, when they call 911, how to call 911 and just basic safety for the community that they can learn.”
