When is the last day to register to vote in Pennsylvania?

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WTAJ) — To mark National Voter Registration Day, Pennsylvanians were reminded that the deadline to register to vote was fast approaching.

Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt said Tuesday that the deadline for the November election is Monday, Oct. 21.

To be eligible to register to vote, Pennsylvanians must be:

• A citizen of the United States for at least one month before the election.
• A resident of the election district in which the person plans to register for at least 30 days before the election.
• At least 18 years of age on or before the election date.

“Voting is a fundamental right in our representative democracy and the most basic way Pennsylvanians can make their voices heard,” Schmidt said. “I encourage every eligible Pennsylvanian who is not registered to vote to take a few minutes to register online before the Oct. 21 deadline so they can have their say on Nov. 5.”

The Shapiro Administration in 2023 launched automatic voter registration to help ensure “free, fair, and secure elections.” Automatic voter registration is offered at all PennDOT photo and driver’s license centers. 147,586 Pennsylvanians registered to vote since automatic registration launched.

Anyone who is already registered to vote can check their registration status online as well as update any changes to their name or address. Additional voter information can be found on the Department of State website .
