UPDATE: During a news conference Friday afternoon, Cambria County District Attorney Greg Neugebauer revealed the victim to be 40-year-old Lenna Azzoli of D Street in Lower Yoder Township.

The cause of death was determined to be multiple gunshot wounds by Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.

Neugebauer said that 57-year-old Douglas Yonker, who resided at the K Street residence, was taken to the hospital for injuries to his head and face area before being taken into custody. Neugebauer said charges were approved by around 3 a.m., stating that this was a “fairly rapid, but thorough investigation.

According to Neugebauer, police located the handgun they believed was used in the homicide and it is believed to be a gun owned by Yonker. Officials also believe the two had been dating for some time.

Neugebauer said a neighbor in the area heard a man and woman fighting and called the police after hearing a gunshot. Ultimately, Azzoli was dead before police arrived.

Yonker was charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and tampering with evidence. He was placed in Cambria County Prison and his bail was denied.
