    Blair County DUI task force release statistics, highlights importance of sober driving

    BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Blair County DUI Taskforce released results surrounding a recent patrol of the area, with over 90 interactions with drivers reported.

    On Friday, Sept. 20, the officers were on patrol locally. The following results were reported from the detail.

    • 92 individual contacts
    • 62 warnings
    • 9 citations
    • 4 DUI Field Tests
    • 2 DUI’s
    • 1 Drug arrest
    • 1 Pursuit

    Officers remind drivers in all counties across Pennsylvania to drive sober and not let their friends drive impaired. The costs associated with an impaired driving arrest can vary depending on several factors.

    A traffic fine for a DUI can range from $300-$10,000 depending on the driver’s blood alcohol content and the number of previous offenses. However, the expenses don’t stop after a traffic fine for some DUI’s.

    For example, a few other expenses include:

    • Towing a vehicle: $175 – $500 depending on circumstances
    • Impound: $75 – $175 per day
    • Legal fees: $2,000 – $8,000 or more
    • Alcohol evaluation: $35 – $100
    • Accelerated rehabilitative disposition: $100 – $1,800
    • Education or treatment: $100 – $1,000 or more
    • License restoration: $76 for non-commercial, $148 for commercial
