BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — People living in Freedom Township are being asked to boil their water out of caution.

The Freedom Township Water & Sewer Authority (FTWSA) announced that it will be finishing the relocation work of its existing water main along the Dry Run bridge on Dunnings Highway near New Pig.

Work is expected to begin at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25 and will be completed around 4 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26.

Those in the township will be under a boil water notice starting at 4 a.m. Thursday and are asked to use boiled or bottled water to drink, make ice, wash dishes, brush teeth or prepare food.

The FTWSA said it will collect and analyze multiple water samples after water service is restored to ensure the supply does not contain “bacteriological contaminants.” The notice will be lifted after test results are acceptable.
