    Coroner: One dead after ATV accident in Cambria County

    UPDATE:

    CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — One man was killed after an ATV accident happened in Portage Monday evening.

    Joseph Schrift, 54, of Lilly, was driving an ATV when he lost control and overturned the vehicle onto himself, according to Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees. Schrieft was pronounced dead on scene, with his death being ruled accidental. Lees noted in the report that Schrieft was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

    A toxicology report is still pending and PSP continues to assist Lees with the investigation.

    CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Authorities were called to a deadly ATV accident in Portage Monday evening.

    According to Cambria County 911, the crash happened at 5:50 p.m. on the 400 Block of Sportsman Road. The Cambria County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene and state police are investigating.

    Further details surrounding the accident are unknown at this time.

    The Portage Volunteer Fire Company, Beaverdale Volunteer Fire Company, Cambria Alliance EMS and the Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) assisted at the scene.
