BELLEFONTE, Pa. (WTAJ) – One special Centre County dispatcher earned a stork pin after helping to deliver a baby over the phone.

Keara Tice took the call at 3 a.m. and realized that the family would need help before the paramedics arrived. She guided the mother through the birthing process until the ambulance arrived.

She said that she has never had to do something like this before, and to have it happen before her two-year mark is “insane.”

Tice also had a chance to meet the family in person at the commissioner’s meeting.

The father was very appreciative, saying that Tice was a “calm, peaceful voice” that guided them through the steps.

Wow! What an experience that had to be for her, but I don’t know how these dispatchers stay so calm. She definitely deserves the recognition!
