    Altoona veteran center to host flu vaccine clinics

    ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — The James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center announced it will be hosting multiple drive-thru flu clinics throughout September and October.

    Starting Sept. 28, the clinics will be held at each of the community-based Outpatient Clinics in DuBois, Huntingdon, Johnstown, Indiana, State College and Altoona. Veterans who are already enrolled in VA healthcare and those enrolled in the Caregiver Support Program are encouraged to attend.

    Those who are not yet enrolled in VA healthcare can also receive a vaccine by bringing a copy of their DD214 with them to the clinics. Enrollment specialists will also be available at the main facility to help unenrolled veterans receive the healthcare they have earned.

    Drive-thru Flu Shot Clinics are scheduled for:

    • DuBois 9/28/2024, 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
    • Huntington 9/28/2024, 8 a.m. – noon
    • Johnstown 9/28/2024, 8 a.m. – noon
    • Altoona 9/28/2024, 8 a.m. – noon
    • Indiana 10/5/2024, 9 a.m. – noon
    • State College 10/19/2024, 8 a.m. – noon

    If you are a Veteran, and cannot attend one of the scheduled clinics, vaccines are being offered at Primary care appointments. Walk-in hours are also available starting Sept. 23rd every Monday and Wednesday, from 8 a.m. – noon, and Thursdays from noon – 3 p.m. through Oct. 31st, 2024.
