ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — The AAA East Central announced it is hosting an event to replace peeling license plates for free.

In Pennsylvania, vehicle owners can be pulled over and fined up to $100 for having a license plate that is deemed illegible. According to PennDOT, a registration plate is deemed illegible when one or more characters cannot be recognized from 50 feet, or if the plate shows any blistering, peeling, discoloration, or loss of reflectivity.

    Replacement event details:

    • Friday, Sept. 27 – 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
      • AAA Altoona Branch Office (1634 Valley View Blvd.)

So my question is... How do we get a replacement plate if we don't live near Altoona?? My plate is peeling bad but I can't make it there to order a new one.
