    Groups attend Blair County summit, discuss emergency preparedness

    BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Organizations from several counties filled the Blair County Convention Center for the 2024 Blair County SARA Summit.

    The Blair County SARA Summit is a conference that brings together community leaders, industry representatives, hospitals, schools, and emergency responders to discuss community awareness, emergency planning, and emergency preparedness for all Blair County Stakeholders.

    “It’s all about emergency preparedness, we try each year to pick topics, that are what’s happening today. What people in business, industry, hospitals, schools need to be ready for, based on current threats,” Mark Taylor the Blair County Director of Public Safety said.

    Officials at the summit say the day is filled with information and sometimes live exercises. But the most important part is networking.

    “You get to know each other, you get to know somebody new. You can work together than in your planning and preparedness plans, we can share information, and it helps to, aid the community with, having that preparedness plan and everything ready to go,” Rebecca Long, Chair of the Local Emergency Planning Committee said.

    Some of the speakers included cyber security, insider threats and hazmat programs.
