JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WTAJ) – It’s not every day that a main campus competes against a branch campus in a sport. However, that will be the case for Division II Pitt-Johnstown as the Mountain Cats will battle it out on the wrestling mat against Pitt on Jan. 3.

UPJ head coach Pat Pecora’s passing sends shockwaves to former wrestlers

When the dual meet comes around, there’s a very good chance that two local wrestlers and former Panthers could crack the lineup for the Mountain Cats in Richland’s Cooper Warshel and Glendale’s Brock McMillen .

The former Viking wrestled with Pitt for three seasons before jetting to Johnstown this past offseason. In his career as a Panther, the three-time PIAA champion owns a 20-11 record, which includes a 11-4 mark from this past season.

Meanwhile, Warshel spent one year with Pitt before transferring back to his hometown in 2022. The former Ram qualified for the NCAA Championships this past season after winning the regional tournament.
