Altoona announces fall brush and leaf collection dates for residents

ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — It’s that time of the year again. As the air feels crisp, chills can be felt before the sunrises and after it sets, the leaves start to change and fall — Autumn is here.

In Altoona’s October newsletter, Mayor Matt Pacifico announced this year’s brush and leaf collections for the city. While all sections of Altoona only have one brush collection day, they all have they all have five leaf collection days from October into December.

Collections will begin Oct. 21 for brush and conclude Dec. 2 for leaves.

Purple – Mondays

• Brush: Oct. 21
• Leaves: Oct. 28 and Nov. 4, 12 (Tuesday), 19, 26

Yellow – Tuesdays

• Brush: Oct. 22
• Leaves: Oct. 29 and Nov. 5, 12, 19, 26

Blue – Wednesdays

• Brush: Oct. 23
• Leaves: Oct. 30 and Nov. 6, 13, 20, 27

Red – Thursdays

• Brush: Oct. 24
• Leaves: Oct. 31, Nov. 7, 14, 21 and Dec. 2.

The City of Altoona asks residents to put brush and leaves in brown bags, untaped, and leave on the curb by 7 a.m. on their assigned days. Pacifico added in the newsletter that if your brush/leaves aren’t picked up, leave them and they’ll get collected as soon as possible.
