HARRISBURG, Pa. (WTAJ) — State Representative Jim Rigby (R-Cambria/Somerset) announced a “Senior Safe Driving” course, which will be held in October.

The course, scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 31, will run from 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Solomon Run Fire Hall (176 Mt. Airy Drive, Johnstown). The PennDOT-approved driving course is designed for seniors aged 55 and older, at the cost of $17 per person.

“The recent class we held in Windber was so popular that it generated a waiting list, so we decided to schedule another one as soon as possible,” Rigby said. “It’s given solely in a classroom setting and provides a good test of the rules of the road for anyone who may have lost confidence behind the wheel.”

Completing the course will earn participants a minimum 5% discount on auto insurance premiums over a three-year period. Anyone interested in registering for the course may do so either by calling 1-800-559-4880 or going online .

I think that's a wise idea I also think everyone should do that because with some of the drivers it's like they don't care it's not only the seniors it's the new drivers and older ones I think the roads would be safer I mean I'd like to think
