JEFFERSON COUNTY (WTAJ) – Jefferson County Tourism now has a third director in the past year after the second one mysteriously left.

“The first director was gone in a pretty short amount of time, she apparently wasn’t a good fit. And then we had a pretty extensive meeting with all the board of directors and with the new director and he seemed to do a really good presentation like he had a lot of goals and then he’s just gone,” owner of Hominy Ridge Cabins and Gift Shop Paula Pluta said.

Companies expressed that they have seen losses of more than $10,000 and say it’s because the Jefferson County section is not getting as big of a promotion as the Forest County one.

“So Forest County is getting all the same benefits they got before. But now without any competition from the Clarion and Jefferson county sides because Cook Forest is made up of three counties so there’s really not any competition for them,” Pluta said.
