    Altoona man accused of trying to run over pedestrian at 3 a.m.

    ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — An Altoona man is accused of trying to run over a pedestrian in the early morning hours, Logan Township police report.

    William Hatfield III, 40, was charged after police were called just before 3 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, to the 300 block of Bayton Avenue for reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.

    According to a police report, Hatfield allegedly came across the victim and their truck on the Bayton Ave road. The victim claimed he was talking to Hatfield when Hatfield suddenly hit the gas pedal. The victim told police he had to jump onto the hood of Hatfield’s vehicle to keep from being run over.

    Through the investigation, police were able to identify the driver as Hatfield.

    Hatfield is facing charges including aggravated assault, simple assault and DUI.
