(WTAJ) — What could be better than National Taco Day falling on a taco Tuesday? Possibly the deals chain restaurants are offering as a way to celebrate.

National Taco Day , observed on Oct. 1 in the United States and on March 31 in Mexico (called Día del Taco), is a day that celebrates and promotes the consumption of tacos. The history of celebrating tacos can be traced back to the 1960s, when it was observed May 3, as a way to celebrate the week leading up to Cinco de Mayo.

Deals in Central Pa. for National Taco Day

Taco Bell announced they will be offering $1 tacos for 10 hours. Rewards members are invited to take advantage of the deal between 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Oct. 1, and can order up to 10 tacos throughout the day for only $1 each.

A different taco will be available every hour while supplies last, the chain said. Members will also have access to additional deals dropping on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Long John Silver’s , although not your typical taco shop, is joining in on the fun as well this year. The chain announced it is offering four tacos for $8 on Oct. 1. Through Oct. 25, customers can also order two fish tacos for $5.

Although Chipotle hasn’t made any special announcements for National Taco Day, customers are encouraged to show off their favorite orders online with the hashtag #ChipotleTacoDay for a chance to win a taco-related prize.

Wasn’t National Taco Day previously on Oct. 4?

Yes! You aren’t experiencing a Mandela Effect moment, the day used to be observed on Oct. 4. However, Taco Bell and the National Day Calendar announced the change to Oct. 1 earlier in September.

Why? To ensure that National Taco Day will always fall on a “taco Tuesday.” This year, however, with the change being so new, many businesses and chain restaurants noted that customers should keep an eye out for deals on Oct. 4 as well as many make the transition.
