Sheetz vs. Wawa: Study shows what customers prefer more

(WTAJ) — Pennsylvania residents from all over can finally let out that breath they have been holding in. The Sheetz versus Wawa debate may have just been settled, according to a new study.

The study, conducted by the American Customer Satisfaction Index , was based on 5,710 completed surveys from randomly chosen customers who were contacted via email between March and Sept. 2024. Chains that scored higher on the study were noted to have prioritized food options.

Sheetz versus Wawa, one final time

The American Index reported that Wawa was given an “industry-leading” score of 82 out of 100. This score put Wawa in first, with QuikTrip (81/100) coming in second and Buc-ee’s and Murphy USA (80/100) coming to a tie in third.

Sheetz brought home a score of 79/100, which is just three points shy of tying with Wawa. American Index reported that nearly all of the chains in the study scored above the average (76), which the study notes as impressive.

The index also played into the regional debate and measured customer satisfaction in Pennsylvania when it came to Sheetz and Wawa. Wawa performed well in both of its primary markets, taking first place for customer satisfaction in the Northeast and second in the South.

So, does this solve the everlasting debate in the Commonwealth? Likely not, people will always have their preferences, especially when it comes to regional disputes.
