SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A woman has been accused of stealing over $27,000 from the Conemaugh Township AYSO soccer association.

Jennifer Konieczny, 45, of Jerome is facing felony theft charges after allegedly stealing from the association when she was the treasurer, according to a criminal complaint. On Sept. 9, the president of the association contacted the Conemaugh Township Police Department about missing funds.

According to the complaint, they noted that $27,227.61 was missing from their bank account and that bank records showed many transactions from PayPal. The transactions were from Konieczny and were listed as being for supplies. Detectives noted that there were 60 transactions made to PayPal.

On Sept. 27, police interviewed Konieczny who allegedly stated both verbally and in a written statement that she had used the funds from the AYSO account for personal use. Police also noted that she apologized and wrote that she was wrong for taking the money.

Konieczny was arraigned on Oct. 8 and released on $10,000 unsecured bail. She is facing felony charges of theft by unlawful taking, accessing devices unauthorized by the user and a misdemeanor charge of theft by failing to deposit funds.
