CURWENSVILLE, Pa. — (WTAJ) Curwensville Elementary students got a firsthand look at their future careers during a weeklong event that combined technology, hands-on activities, and industry insights.

From Oct. 1 to Oct. 4, Workforce Solutions for North Central PA, in collaboration with the Curwensville Area School District, hosted Curwensville Career Week, providing students of all ages the opportunity to explore various professions.

The event kicked off with virtual reality simulations for sixth graders, allowing them to experience professions in fields like healthcare, automotive, and construction through TransfrVR headsets. As the week progressed, younger students, including kindergarteners, were introduced to careers through interactive programs, like the Carl the Career Bear initiative and the “Touch-A-Truck” program.

Local Businesses, including Phoenix Therapy and Lezzer Lumber, participated in presentations, offering hands-on demonstrations of industry skills to 4th and 5th graders. The initiative aimed to spark curiosity and help students envision future career paths at an early age.

“We want to make career exploration exciting for students and connect them with the local job market,” Colleen Prechtl, Workforce Solutions Project Coordinator said.
