CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Two schools in Cambria County announced that they had received a threat on Thursday.

Northern Cambria School District released a statement on Facebook on Thursday, Oct. 17, after a threat began circulating on social media. During the investigation, it was found that the person who made the threat is not a student of the district and that there is no credible evidence supporting the threat.

The school continued to say that as a “precautionary measure,” it was going to provide increased police presence during the school day on Friday, Oct. 18 as well as at the football game.

We are working closely with State and Local Police to monitor the situation and ensure a secure environment for everyone. As always, the safety and well-being of our students remain our top priority. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Cambria Heights School District also took to Facebook , announcing that the administration was made aware of a “threat circulating on social media” among some of the high school students. The district and PSP were able to identify the person allegedly responsible for making the threats, which have been deemed not credible.

We commend the individuals who brought these posts to our attention so an investigation could begin immediately. Such threats are unnerving to everyone in the school community and disruptive to the educational environment.

While the investigation is ongoing, PSP announced that the student believed to be responsible for the threats will be arrested.
