A Crawford County man was accused of tackling a referee at a Thursday night Meadville Junior Varsity football game.

Brandon E. Teed, 34, has been charged with assault on a sports official and harassment.

According to a report, City of Meadville police were called to Bender Field around 5:41 p.m. on Thursday for the assault. The report states that the referee suffered minor injuries.

No other details have been given at this time.

A statement from the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association’s (PIAA) X account, formerly Twitter, reads.

It has been brought to our attention of an assault on a PIAA sports official after a junior high football game in district X. PIAA does not condone any such acts. We will pursue this case to the fullest extent of the law. Thankfully, the PIAA official that was attacked is doing fine and in good spirits.

PIAA will not tolerate abuse of PIAA sports officials. Thank you to all that came to the assistance of the official after this occurrence.
