Pennsylvania gas prices currently lowest since April

ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — As summer winds down and the presidential election season ramps up, the price of gasoline in Pennsylvania is the lowest it’s been since April.

According to AAA , the average price for a gallon of gas on Tuesday, Aug. 27, is $3.51 for unleaded, this is an 11-cent difference from last month ($3.62). The lowest in Pennsylvania is in Montour County at $3.30 per gallon while the highest is in Warren County at $3.79 per gallon.

In April, AAA reported the average in Pennsylvania as $3.524 per gallon of unleaded. For reference, March’s reported average was $3.65 per gallon.

A year ago, in August 2023, the average price in Pennsylvania was $3.88.

Earlier this month, oil prices began to drop over concerns with the U.S. Economy after a poor jobs report, according to GasBuddy . Some speculated that Hurricane Debby would cause prices to soar, but the torrential downpours from the storm had little impact on the oil refineries, the company added.

Historically, the U.S. has always seen an uptick in gas prices as we near summer due to the demand for gasoline as people travel more and take vacations.

Likewise, it’s often that during a presidential election year, the country will see lower prices as it becomes a talking point for most candidates, knowing Americans want less expensive fuel, among other items.
