Wethersfield tent encampment fire

WETHERSFIELD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - The Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department fought a tent encampment during record heat.

Around 4:30 p.m., reports came in concerning smoke coming from the area of the 5-15 on-ramp on The Silas Deane Highway.

A large fire was found to be burning in an encampment under the Route 5-15 Bridge off Hartford Avenue.

The situation was particularly hazardous as several propane tanks were threatened by the flames.
