Police officer assaulted in Woodbury

Woodbury, Conn./WTIC Radio - State police say a Woodbury police officer was assaulted and injured during a traffic stop Thursday.

At around 1:30 p.m., the officer assigned to the Woodbury Resident Trooper's Office was conducting a traffic stop on North Main Street in town.

The officer was injured, allegedly by the operator of the vehicle that was stopped.

The police officer was taken to the hospital for treatement.

Troopers say the suspect has been arrested and there is no threat to the public.
