COLUMBIA, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Connecticut State Police are investigating an armed robbery that happened at a gas station in the eastern Connecticut town of Columbia early Sunday morning.

Troopers say a man, armed with a silver handgun, entered the 7-11 gas station on Route 66 in Columbia around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, demanding money and cigarettes from the clerk.

The clerk gave the suspect money and cigarettes. The suspect then ran away from the store on foot, going toward Route 66. Investigators think he possibly drove away from the scene in a dark colored SUV.

The suspect is described as a male, standing approximately 5’6”-5’10” tall, with a thin build.

He was seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, grey pants, black shoes, black face covering, and dark colored gloves.

If you have any information, you're asked to please call Troop K at (860) 465-5404.
