23 New Haven restaurants get OK for outdoor dining, another 20 pending

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — An amenity that started as a way to boost restaurant sales during the pandemic is expected to give New Haven another economic boom this year.

“You see how vibrant our community is because of all these small restaurants and businesses who are doing outdoor dining, and so many people coming to the city because of that atmosphere,” New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker said.

The outdoor dining season is about to begin, with 23 establishments already approved it and another 20 applications pending. Those applications are expected to be reviewed within the next few weeks.
